DIY Fancy Pants, Two Tone Nails

two toned manicure diy
I am really bad at doing nails. And by bad, I mean awful. The fanciest I've ever gotten is painting one finger a different color. Impressive, huh? It's not that I can't figure it out, it's just that every time I paint my nails it goes a little something like this...

Can I get an amen?? Other than for carrying in groceries, I'm not sure why I even have a left hand. But this is like the idiot's guide to having impressive nails. There's a nice little cheat that even I can do! What's the secret? Tape!

Perlier Crackling Ice Body Water

A reviewski for the blogski!
Disclaimer: I received this product for review purposes but all views and opinions are my own.

You're saying what the hell is crackling ice body water? And my answer is "I know, right?". Well, that was my first answer but now that I've used it, when I'm asked what it is my answer is "Flippin awesome!" Have you ever tried pop rocks? Who am I kidding, we all had pop rocks as a kid. This is like pop rocks for your skin.  Yeah, it's like the adult, moisturizing version of pop rocks.
But why do I need pop rocks for my skin? Well #1, because it's just cool. I mean, it is. My kids absolutely loved it. But for those of you who aren't in the market for "cool" novelty items, there are other benefits. This ice water comes out as a foam. It's really light and it feels that way on the skin. It's a really good lightweight moisturizer that isn't oily or greasy. It's also cold hence the "ice" in the name.
I think this would be a great addition to your beach/pool bag. It'd be great to cool yourself off in the summer heat. I don't know if I would personally buy this for myself but I think it'd make a cool (no pun intended) gift.

Sheer Delight

sheer tank, linen shorts

I've hopped on the sheer bandwagon. I have one other "sheer" top that you've seen quite a few times but it's actually pretty opaque and I always wear a cami under it anyway. This time I decided (once again) what the hell! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I may be a mom but I'm not dead! In fact, I'm still in my 20's! And this is the last year I can say I'm in my 20's, I'm quickly approaching 29, so I'm going to spend one more year embracing my youth. I'll dress like an adult next year...maybe.

Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream

It's a reviewski for the blogski!
disclaimer: I received this product for review purposes but all views and opinions are my own.

So, BB creams. I've had a hate/hate relationship with BB creams in the past. I rushed out and got my first BB cream when they first came on the market and the product was useless (sorry Garnier). All it seemed to be, was an extremely heavy, tinted moisturizer that left my skin feeling disgusting. It didn't help correct my dark marks, it just temporarily covered them. It didn't moisturize, it created an oil spill on my face. And there was no SPF. Basically it was the same as using a really terrible, cakey foundation that did terrible things to my skin. So when I say that I really liked the Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream, It's a genuine love because it would take a lot to win me over!

The Benefits

The Hydroxatone BB Cream does more than just cover your problem areas, it actually works to correct them. Over time, your dark spots fade and your skin tone evens out. It has an SPF of 40 which is awesome because if your foundation doesn't have an SPF, it's an extra step to apply sunscreen in addition to a full face of makeup. This BB cream cuts out that extra step. It has plant extracts to calm and soothe irritated skin which is awesome for us girls with redness and it contains vitamin C. This is something my old BB Cream definitely didn't have. If you've seen my Orange Juice Face Mask, you know that vitamin C is a huge benefit to your skin. It stimulates collagen, promotes your skin's own regenerative properties and brightens the skin. Wins all around!

The Application

Another difference between this and other BB Creams is the application and wear. It has the coverage of a light to medium coverage foundation so it can actually take the place of your foundation products. My old BB cream went on thick and looked like I was wearing a mask but this cream is light and looks much more natural. The benefits of coverage and the lightweight feel of a moisturizer. You could use it in place of foundation or you could wear it by itself; it's just that lightweight that you can layer without being bogged down by tons of product on your face. It doesn't look like you're wearing makeup, it just looks like you naturally have awesome, even, glowing skin. Win! It also really moisturizes without making my skin oily and it truly feels like you aren't wearing anything. Again, cutting out an extra step! The smell is nice too. It's a light smell that's not overpowering; it's fresh and subtle and a great unexpected bonus.
I tried this legit style; fresh out of the shower, towel on my head and all. You're welcome.
The Verdict

I am a drugstore girl through and through. I really don't like to spend a lot on beauty products when I can find great stuff at the drugstore. However, in this case, it seems that bigger is better and it's not something you can scrimp on if you want a great product and real results. I would definitely buy Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream and I highly recommend it; it's definitely worth it! I don't usually recommend pricier products but this one is worth the $39.00 if you want a great BB Cream. And if you think about it, you're cutting out your need for lotion, sunscreen and possibly your foundation so it's totally worth it and can even save you money! If you're in the market for a good BB cream, head on over to Ulta and grab yourself the Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream! You won't be disappointed!

Neon Fresh

So I dubbed this outfit Neon Fresh after one of my most favorite blogs because...well, it's neon and I like the blog. Roo keeps it real and I love her 'This is How I Feel' series. Seriously, stop by her place and prepare to be rolling on the ground.

Trend Spin: Chambray

Chambray and Stripes

This week's trend spin was chambray and let me tell you, I know chambray. I've actually laid off of it for a while so I was happy to bring her back out.

The No Poo Method

(Update at the end of the post)
No, I'm not talking about your bowels. In fact, if you have "no poo", you've got some real problems; I'm no doctor but I imagine you should probably get that checked out. ;) What I'm talking about today is SHAMpoo, or a lack thereof. This post is all about saying goodbye to your shampoo forever. Wait! It's a real thing, I promise! Today is the day that will change your life... Seriously, it will!

I know you're thinking "Ew! You don't wash your hair?!" But I do wash my hair! Just not with shampoo. There's a lot of logic to this, I promise you. I didn't just decide one day that I was going to quit bathing. I still shower normally and my hair is just as clean as it ever was....but I'm not having to damage it with harsh chemicals to get it that way! After one time of trying No Poo, I never looked back. It's that good. It is SO much better for your hair and SO much more cost effective, too!

Lady of the Night

Another "Pinterest told me to" 'fit. The jury is still out on this one. To be real honest, I felt like a hooker. Not like a 'Pretty Woman' hooker, more like a 'Grand Theft Auto' lady of the night. I keeps it real. It looked so cute on the other girl. Maybe it's just something you have to get used to? What do you guys think about it? Seriously, honest opinion.

Wordless Wednesday: Our Week

It's my first Wordless Wednesday...and I've failed already. I'm not good at "wordless", I'm a very "wordy" person. But, in the wordless spirit, I'll just shut up now. Here's our last week in pictures. Shutting up now, promise.

Flower Power

It's Tuesday! Whoo! No, there's not really anything exciting about Tuesday, I'm just trying to be upbeat about it.

I've had these floral jeans for a bit but didn't know how I wanted to wear them. I thought chambray at first but that was just too obvious. Ya know, why am I always telling you people all of my clothing woes? You don't care. Heck, I don't care. Let's just look at my pretty jeans, shall we?

Pinning for the Win

Via Pinterest
This combination has been in my closet, able to be made easily, and I would have never thought of it had it not been for Pinterest. Tights are new to me. Leggings have been a good friend but tights were foreign. Gotta say, I'm liking them. I wish my skirt was a little fuller and my tights were a little more opaque but I think I hit the concept. What do you think?

Just Because I Love Him

He's crazy, he's obnoxious, he tells bad jokes and he's all mine. Because yesterday marked our 5 year anniversary and because Father's Day is tomorrow, this post is all about the man in my life.

disclaimer: picture OVERLOAD

My husband is a breed all his own. You really have to known him, to get him. He makes me laugh every single day and for a woman who stresses easy, he's exactly what I need. He appreciates the jokes on the Laffy Taffy and watches cartoons with the best of them. Our favorite shows to watch as a couple are Wizard's of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb and Good Luck Charlie. If Disney ever goes under, we're in trouble.

He's a man who fully believes a husband should take care of his wife and he does it well. I don't put gas in the car, I don't make my own coffee, I don't do the dishes (which I believe to be the work of the devil) and I never go without my Life cereal or cinnamon rolls when a midnight craving hits. He gets up at 5am every morning and works his butt off to take care of us. When money is low, he makes personal sacrifices for us. And most of all, he's an amazing dad. When I was a young, single mom of 2 boys, it was Justin who stepped in and took care of us. It was Justin who stepped in and taught them how to hit a baseball, how to fly a kite, how to build the best forts, how to dribble a basketball, and how to ride a bike. It is Justin who protects his little princess, who has the best tickle fights, who stayed up until 4am on a Christmas Eve to put together the world's most complicated play kitchen and who will cry all the way down a big water slide just because his baby girl asked him to.

It's so easy to gab to your girlfriends or family when you're pissed off at your significant other and to tell them how big of a jackass he was being when you're arguing over something ridiculous. And we tend to forget all they do and how much better our lives are with them. When we're having a bad day, it's the husbands that have to pay for it. It's when you step back and realize how amazing they are that you realize how lucky you are. I have been so fortunate to find my other half and I fully realize just how lucky I am. Happy anniversary and Happy Father's Day, honey! We love you!
