Frugal Fall Fashion

Have you all ever known me to spend a lot of money on what I wear? Or anything really? No, you haven't. If my blog had a motto it'd be "If it ain't broke, don't spend it". Ok, maybe I need to work on that motto. But the point is, I've been screaming from the rooftops (or my blog, tomato/tomahto) how I never ever "splurge" on anything because it's excessive, unnecessary and, in my case, simply unobtainable. We're a one income household full of kids. It just ain't happenin'. But what are you paying for really? A label? Yeah, I can do without that. I'm not a materialistic person. I just can't understand spending nearly double on an identical item just because of a brand name. Price is not always equal to quality. I think a lot of women are misguided and think the higher the price tag, the higher the quality. That age old saying "You get what you pay for" is really ingrained in us but it's an antiquated, archaic notion. Trust me on this, I have a lot of experience behind me!

I'll Take an Order of Lace, With a Side of Lace

There is no denying that I love lace. I wear it frequently. I always find that on those "I have nothing to wear" days, lace is always an easy, go-to choice to fall back on because it always looks good and it can jazz up darn near everything. Plain pair of jeans? Lace. Shorts? Lace. Skirt? Lace. And does lace ever go out of style? I'm pretty sure lace has no expiration date. This particular top is sweet and feminine because of the lace fabric but edgy (and dare I say) a little bit sexy because of the cut and color. It could easily transform to fit any style and you know me, I love "easy"! When deciding how to wear it today though, I thought what better to pair with it but more lace?

Lace, Take Two

Yes, I did just wear these shorts last week. And yes, I am wearing them again already. In my defense, I did warn you that they would be worn with unnatural frequency. They can be worn so many different ways. Same shorts, very different look. Plus, I've gotten complimented on these shorts more than anything I've worn, and who doesn't love compliments??

Just Jeans

Not boyfriend jeans, not skinny jeans. Not colored or printed or distressed. Just jeans. They still exist! And they're perfect for functionality and showing off my shirt. Which I love. I've become a real fan of floral print. I used to not own anything floral. It's a frilly print and it just wasn't me. But, I don't rule out anything anymore and I dress how I feel. Your mood changes, why shouldn't your style?

Lace, the Fabric of Our Lives

Are you singing it? "The touch, the feel, the fabric of our lives" Yeah, I'm not deaf. I know it's cotton but I like lace better. So let's talk about these shorts...I have been wanting a pair of lace shorts for months. I didn't get them because I just couldn't style them enough ways in my head to make them  "versatile" and as a poor person, versatility is imperative. Ya'll know I'm poor. But then I decided to indulge anyway and was really surprised.

OWB Week: Cherry

Trend Spin: Red, White and Blue

 Well, it's the 4th of July! I'm not a fan of red, white and blue if I'm being honest. It's so very unpatriotic of me but there it is. Best I could do is throw on some red lipstick but hey, it still adds up to red, white and blue!

To Peplum, or Not to Peplum?

That is the question. It's funny how you have something (in my case, it's this floral bodycon mini) and never wear it because you have nothing to go with it and then BAM, you have 2 options that you can't decide on. I like them both for different reasons. I don't really think I have a favorite or think one is better than the other, they're just different. This peplum is fabulous though! What do you think?

Why? Because I Can!

 Why am I wearing boots in the middle of summer? Because I can. Booyah.

I'm really getting over pieces being taken at face value. A skirt, and a lace one at that, does not have to be dressy. A casual tee, does not have to be casual. And boots are not just for fall and winter! It when you mix them up that people stop being polite, and start getting real. Wait, that's Real World. I mean fun! That's when it starts being fun! 

200!

No, I'm not talking about the movie. I didn't forget how many spartans there were running around in their capes and diapers. What I'm talking about, is followers! This tiny little blog has reached 200 followers! When I put that into perspective of how many that actually is, it's larger than my graduating class in our tiny hometown high school! That just blows my mind! 200 whole people (I don't think any of you have half of yourselves operating independently but I don't judge) came to my blog, saw what I had to say and liked it enough to hit "follow". It is so easy to compare yourself to other blogs and realize how miniscule you are measured up to them but when I step back and really realize that these people are following me, it's just absolutely amazing! Thank you to each and every one of you!! Ok, I promise I'm not going to do this with every hundred followers (assuming I ever even get another hundred...or even another 10), I'm just so crazy happy that this seemingly small part of my life has had such a huge impact on me and all of you enjoy it too.

Ok so, I have no shame. I am a money saver. Well, really I just don't have any money to spend. So when it comes to my clothes, I have no limits to which I will go to save a couple bucks. This skirt came from the girl's section at JC Penny and I have no shame in admitting that. It was crazy cheap on clearance. I would buy toddler's clothes at that price, if it would fit me!

Oh What the Hell, Right?

Alright you guys, I'm always talking about my "comfort zone" and how I don't have the confidence to pull of certain looks or to try new things. Well, you know what I decided? What the hell?! I mean, really! What's the worst that could happen if an outfit turns out to be a total flop? I wear it for one day, 12 hours at the most, I learn from the mistake and try something different. I mean, it's not like I have to be buried in the thing! And on the plus side, if I try something a little risky and it rocks, I can do it again. Basically, I've just been being a baby about this and I realized I can never get out of this rut if I don't take chances. So I said Eff it and wore what I wanted! Who cares what anyone else thinks, I'm wearing it for me! And I'm so glad I did because it wasn't a flop at all! I've had this skirt folded in the closet longer than I care to admit, it needed to finally be worn! 

Polka Dots: Take 2

Let me just start off by telling you how big of an idiot I am. So I finished up this here post, labeled it, titled it, added a search description and all that jazz. I then proceeded to go to my bookmarks and pull up all the sites I link to on whichever particular day it is. I kept refreshing the pages wondering why no one had posted their linkups yet. Waited a while and tried again...still no linkups. Then, the genius that I am, realized it was Thursday. I seriously proceeded through my day as if it was already Friday. I guess we just didn't need Thursday this week. Wow.

So anyway, I've worn this shirt only one time before and I'm not quite sure why because I really like it. I love the polka dot trend although I tend to gravitate more towards stripes. I have stripes out the wazoo. And I finally got to wear a blazer! I love this one because it's a stretchy cotton, it feels just like a t-shirt. The benefit of looking all dapper but the comfort of wearing a tee, it's the best of both worlds.

Today's Forcast: Green With a 30% Chance of Pink

Welcome to a new week everyone! The semester is over so it's one of the few times in my life that I've been excited about a Monday! And I had a wonderful Mother's Day. It was bittersweet though. I was missing my grandma terribly but my husband and kids did amazing at bringing me smiles. I have the best kids and husband!

This is pretty typical. There's always one who isn't looking or has their eyes shut.  How do those '19 Kids and Counting' people do it??

Hey, hey! Everyone's looking!

So if you follow me, you know how much I love my denim jacket. It makes an appearance at least once a week because it goes with darn near everything. I could have made this look work without it but why would I? It just gives it a little something extra. It makes my outfit a little more polished but a little more casual all at the same time. Only a denim jacket can do that! Definitely one of my best thrift finds! 

My Week in White: Day to Night

Hey everyone! It's a brand new week and I am back and I am blogging. Today is a good day! All week long I am featuring my new white jeans. Versatility is the name of the game here. For us girls who have very little money in the budget for clothes, versatile items are invaluable. To have classic pieces that function as a wardrobe workhorse is a necessity. Chambray is number 1 for me but following in a close second are these white jeans.
