A Vision in Grey

I don't know where this look even came from. I didn't see it anywhere, no "pinspiration" of any kind to guide me. Though I'm sure I'm not the first to go all grey....and I don't just mean my hair! Ba Dum Pssh! Thems jokes people! But I unearthed this sweater from the bottom of my winter box and decided to give it a whirl and these jeans are my clear favorite....and let's be honest, they were the only pair that were clean. And so, coupled together, my vision of grey was created.

Black Friday Steals

I am going to rant for a minute. You've been to my blog before, nothing new here. I have always hated Black Friday. Loathed it in fact. I once worked in retail during a Black Friday and seeing that craziness first hand absolutely terrified me. There were clothes strewn all over the place, people were climbing the employee ladders; it was pandemonium! Then you hear stories of people getting in fights over pillows. Pillows! A physical altercation over pillows. I can't. What has Black Friday reduced us to when we're fighting over getting the better deal on a pillow? I have always loved a good deal and I frequently rave about how cheap I am able to get something, but Black Friday? I have always avoided that black pit of craziness like the plague.

But I have to admit, when Black Friday deals were extended to online shopping, it peaked my interest. Getting good deals from the comfort of my own cozy home, dressed in my PJs, coffee in hand? Ok, I'll bite. You've got my attention. Payless is one of these stores who's Black Friday sales ran online and since this is one of my favorite stores....Yipee!! It drug me out of my Black Friday hatred just a little. Especially since I've been admiring the York riding boots at Payless Shoesource for months now. And this Friday they were on sale for....wait for it...$16.99. Boom. I immediately threw my Black Friday reservations out the window and those sweet boots in my cart. And since I was feeling generous, I picked up a schnazzy pair of kicks for the hubs too. Feeling generous or just really hating his current shoes? Eh, tomato, tomahto. But even still, with my boots, his tennies, and free shipping, our total came to $41. AND they arrived in 2 days. That never happens. Ok. I think I might actually love Black Friday.

A Two Day Reprieve

That's what mother nature gave us this weekend. We had two super warm (but windy) days. And since I knew this was a fluke and would be short lived, I snatched my opportunity for an outfit post!

Frugal Fall Fashion

Have you all ever known me to spend a lot of money on what I wear? Or anything really? No, you haven't. If my blog had a motto it'd be "If it ain't broke, don't spend it". Ok, maybe I need to work on that motto. But the point is, I've been screaming from the rooftops (or my blog, tomato/tomahto) how I never ever "splurge" on anything because it's excessive, unnecessary and, in my case, simply unobtainable. We're a one income household full of kids. It just ain't happenin'. But what are you paying for really? A label? Yeah, I can do without that. I'm not a materialistic person. I just can't understand spending nearly double on an identical item just because of a brand name. Price is not always equal to quality. I think a lot of women are misguided and think the higher the price tag, the higher the quality. That age old saying "You get what you pay for" is really ingrained in us but it's an antiquated, archaic notion. Trust me on this, I have a lot of experience behind me!

Flannel Chic

It's another Monday! And luckily, I'm in a much better mood this week than I have been! Mostly because I have been surprised with a vacation this week! That's right, we're heading to good ol' Gatlinburg TN this Wednesday! Totally unexpected, total surprise and I am so excited!

But my mood improvement is also largely in part by my boots finally arriving in the mail this weekend! Yaay! I have been not so patiently waiting for them since I hit that "check out" button at Oasap. I have desperately been wanting a pair because what sort of fashion blogger doesn't own a pair of ankle boots?? I find all of these Pinterest outfits I want to recreate but it's always "Aww, if I only had the boots!" But now I do (happy dance) and I am in luurv! They're adorable and comfortable. These puppies are lined on the inside with micro-suede. It's like blankets for your feet! Blankets. For. Your. Feet.

Neon Flair

The weather is cooling off and it's time to break out the ol' denim jacket again. Here I am lamenting over summer's passing again. Just you wait until the cold weather really sets in...then you're really going to see some "woe is me" posts. Maybe I should just move south...

50 Shades of Grey

Yes, this title was inspired by the book but only because it's catchy and it fit, not because I like the book. I got about halfway through the first book and realized everything seemed a little familiar. Basically, it's a Twilight replica with a masochist instead of a vampire. I mean, if you're going to copy a book, at least pick a good one! Amirite??

Le Tote: Business in the Front...

A total party in the back! No, I'm not talking about a mullet. In fact, if you have a mullet, cut that ish immediately! Then you can come back and read my blog. But seriously, I L-O-V-E this shirt! Really, how fun is this shirt? And, dare I say, sexy? (gasp!) Mom's can't be sexy! But guess what? This mom just rocked some sexy. As Mr Timberlake says, I'm bringin it back! Booyah!

Le Tote: Supa Dupa Fly

Me I'm supa fly, supa dupa fly (I can't stand the rain) Takin' it back old school style with a little Missy E today. She has literally nothing to do with this outfit other than they're both fly. I think that's reason enough to quote Miss Elliot, don't you?

Le Tote: One Shirt, Two Ways

It's the debut of my Le Tote loot! I introduced you to Le Tote last week and this week I'm featuring all of the pieces from my first tote. The first is this flowy, lavender top.

Or cheesy cheesums. Don't you love the names I so creatively dub my outfits? That's total sarcasm if you didn't pick that up.

Trend Spin: Red, White and Blue

Well, it's the 4th of July! I'm not a fan of red, white and blue if I'm being honest. It's so very unpatriotic of me but there it is. Best I could do is throw on some red lipstick but hey, it still adds up to red, white and blue!

To Peplum, or Not to Peplum?

floral bodycon coral tube top peplum
That is the question. It's funny how you have something (in my case, it's this floral bodycon mini) and never wear it because you have nothing to go with it and then BAM, you have 2 options that you can't decide on. I like them both for different reasons. I don't really think I have a favorite or think one is better than the other, they're just different. This peplum is fabulous though! What do you think?

Pinning for the Win

Via Pinterest
This combination has been in my closet, able to be made easily, and I would have never thought of it had it not been for Pinterest. Tights are new to me. Leggings have been a good friend but tights were foreign. Gotta say, I'm liking them. I wish my skirt was a little fuller and my tights were a little more opaque but I think I hit the concept. What do you think?

Girl Power!

Know what I did yesterday? Moved a full-size mattress and box spring from upstairs to downstairs all by myself...in heels! What, what! (this is the point in which I flex my muscles)Why in heels you ask? I have no good answer. I just happened to already have them on and I didn't feel like changing/taking them off. And why by myself you ask? Because Justin was at work and I didn't feel like waiting. But it's still an impressive feat regardless of my laziness and inability to be patient! Girl power! Rawr! I should totally be the newest Spice Girl. Heavy Lifting Spice! Watch out, ya'll!

Pacsun Hi-Lo Dress {cute option}{cute option} // Aero Denim Jacket (thrifted) {good price} // Thrifted Belt $0.99 {similar} // Target Sandals (thrifted) $7.00 {similar} //  Old Navy Coral Leaf Ring $6.00 {similar} // Target Braided Headband {similar}
I bought this dress at the end of last summer at an outlet mall whilst we were on vacation. I don't remember the exact price because at the time I would have never imagined I would ever have a blog. I do know it was crazy, ridiculous cheap on clearance though or I would not have gotten it. I didn't really get to wear it much last year because of the weather change and honestly I had forgotten all about it until I broke out the summer clothes. Ahhh, sweet summer! Are you guys as excited about summer as I am? Until next time...

Today's Forcast: Green With a 30% Chance of Pink

Welcome to a new week everyone! The semester is over so it's one of the few times in my life that I've been excited about a Monday! And I had a wonderful Mother's Day. It was bittersweet though. I was missing my grandma terribly but my husband and kids did amazing at bringing me smiles. I have the best kids and husband!

This is pretty typical. There's always one who isn't looking or has their eyes shut.  How do those '19 Kids and Counting' people do it??

Hey, hey! Everyone's looking!

So if you follow me, you know how much I love my denim jacket. It makes an appearance at least once a week because it goes with darn near everything. I could have made this look work without it but why would I? It just gives it a little something extra. It makes my outfit a little more polished but a little more casual all at the same time. Only a denim jacket can do that! Definitely one of my best thrift finds!

My Week in White: Old Navy, You've Done it Again!

Hey guys, it's the last day of my week in white!  Today is my review on the awesome jeans I've been sporting all week. If you follow my blog you know that I am a thrifter through and through. Sometimes though, you just can't find what you're looking for and you have to go retail. Where do I shop when I can't thrift but I still want to be kind to my wallet? Old Navy, of course!
Old Navy is always budget friendly and always up on the current trends. Usually, you get what you pay  for and buying cheaper means cheaper quality but Old Navy always delivers. I still have clothes from high school that are still in great shape. I love that I can shop for my entire family in one store and I can always try out that new trend without breaking the bank to do it. So when I got offered to try out Old Navy's white jeans I was stoked! As you've seen all week, white jeans are so versatile, you can wear them so many ways. You can go casual but you can dress them up in a way you just can't dress up regular denim.
I knew that coming up with different ways to style these would be no problem. But I had no idea how hard it would be to narrow them down! As many as I've put together this week, I have that many more still hanging in my closet just waiting to be worn. For us girls who have a minimal amount in the budget for clothes, versatile pieces are invaluable. These jeans are a wardrobe workhorse! And with Old Navy's prices, you can shop retail on a thrifters budget. So what do you need to do? Run! Don't walk, run to Old Navy and snag you a pair of these babies!
Here's a look back at the different ways I wore my white jeans this week
Day 1
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
And I have to say, Old Navy knew what they were doing when they gave me promises of free jeans. I walked into the store and was surrounded by all of the glorious, new spring season's clothes and I spent way too much time (and money!) in there than I should have! Old Navy, you've done it again!
Here's a closer look at a few of my purchases I've been wearing this week that I just couldn't pass up...

So, I think day 3 was my favorite outfit of the week. It was just so much fun and felt very "cool" in it. What about you guys? What's your favorite?

My Week in White: Pops of Pink

It's day 4 of white jeans week! If you haven't already, be sure to check out days onetwo, and three. White on white is not something I've ever done before. I'm really working to step out of my comfort zone and try things I've never done before. I wanted my accessories to be my color. Pink necklace, ring, watch and nails. Is it too much pink? I say there's no such thing!
Here's my pinspiration
