High Heels and Training Wheels: Colorful Confidence

Colorful Confidence

So I talk a lot about stepping out of my comfort zone. Let me just say that this zone is very small for me. I generally didn't ever go shopping unless I absolutely had to and when I did I would always stick to the basic neutrals. If the item couldn't be worn many ways with things I already owned, I wouldn't buy it. So I had zero statement pieces and I never took part in trends because they had no longevity.

This makes my fashion evolution difficult. Everything is new to me and sometimes that can be intimidating. I believe you look as good as you feel. If you have confidence and hold your head high, knowing you look fabulous, others will see something fabulous too. And if you don't have that confidence....well, that falls into place too.

This is the first outfit I've worn that didn't match explicitly. Ordinarily for me to wear blue pants, I'd have to have blue up top as well. My point is, I struggled with confidence a little today but I held my head high and faked it anyway. I didn't back down and change into something 'safe', I stuck it out. And I may not feel super comfortable in this outfit but I've already gone far just for trying it out.

Sweater: F21 @ Goodwill $4.00
Skinnies: Walmart $5.00
Flats: Target $7.50
Silver Bracelet: Walmart $3.00
Blue Bracelet: Micheals $2.50
Ring: American Eagle (given to me)

So these are those pants and the nail polish I talked about on Friday. I absolutely love the color of this nail polish, the picture just doesn't do it justice. It is a bright neon, it almost glows. However, 24 hours later it's chipped on every nail! I guess it's one of those 'you get what you pay for' things. I'll try with a clear top coat and let ya know how that works out.

  4. Keep up the good work! I think this looks great - although I (weirdly) often feel more comfortable with colours than neutrals.
I've tried so many new things completely out of my comfort zone during the last 6 months, and it gets easier each time. I usually find that by the end of the day an outfit looks heaps less crazy than it did putting it on in the morning - and next time around seems completely normal :)

    1. You're absolutely right! By the end of the day when no one had pointed and laughed and hollered 'fraud' I felt a lot better! haha! I'm kidding! But yes, at the end of the day I felt a little silly for being so worried about it and now I feel like I can try out some more and have confidence doing it! Thanks for your comment!
