Hello everyone, I've got a haul/review for you today! If you are a follower of the blog, you read
here that I've decided to work lipstick into my makeup routine. Never been a lipstick wearer until now so I needed to stock up. And because I was at the store anyway on a lipstick hunt, I decided to go ahead and pick up a few things for spring/summer. And, well, buying makeup is just fun!
- Salon Perfect: Perfectly Glamorous Starter Kit $4.98
- Wet n Wild Lipstick $0.99-$1.98
- e.l.f. Brow & Lash Gloss $0.99
- L'Oreal True Match Blush: Innocent Flush $4.99
- Physician's Formula How-To Bronze: Light $12.00
The majority of my clothes are thrifted but you can't thrift makeup (ew!) so I buy all of my makeup/beauty products at the drugstore. I've gotten maybe 3 things total from Sephora and although there is no doubt the products are great, I just can't afford the price tag. So if you want to save a little money on your makeup, these are some great products for the price.
I don't wear lashes ordinarily. I probably haven't worn false lashes since my prom (which was longer ago than I care to admit) but, we're going to a wedding this weekend and I wanted to try them out. I really like this kit because of the applicator. Putting on false lashes really can be a pain but this really helps make it easy. For someone who is a complete novice at lashes, I had no problems whatsoever. I had no problem with the glue sticking either, they stayed on all night and the lashes themselves looked natural. You can snag it for yourself for the same great in-store price here.
Now, I'm going to have to take a second to really rave about this lipstick. At $0.99 you really can't get a better price and the quality of it is as good as any expensive lipstick I've tried. It's incredibly pigmented and it goes on true to color. Not to mention the huge array of color choices they have. It is more like a stain so it really does last all day. I know you've seen those girls who look like they're wearing just a lip liner by the end of the day because their lipstick has rubbed off, you know what I'm talking about. This lipstick does not do that. I've always had trouble with lipstick settling in the creases of my lips and looking crazy but this does not do that either. I can't say enough about this lipstick, it's fab! My favorite colors have been the Cinnamon, Just Peachy and Hot Paris Pink...and Stoplight Red. Heck, I love them all! Go get you some, it's 99 cents people! You can get it online for the same affordable price here: Nouveau Pink, Stoplight Red, Hot Paris Pink, Just Peachy, Cinnamon
Now, this product was never something I thought of as a "must-have". I can't imagine why I didn't think of it sooner though because I have crazy brows. We're talking Bert & Ernie status. One tiny brow gets out of place and I look like Groucho Marks. It ain't pretty. This gloss is essentially a "glue" to hold those bad boys in place. It also has a side for lashes. I couldn't imagine what I would need that for but once I used it, I got it. It makes your lashes glisten and look almost sparkly. It's also great for days you don't want to wear makeup to just give your lashes a little oomph. The brush is great also, it you have any clumps from your mascara, it will smooth them out and separate your lashes. It's now a go-to in my makeup arsenal, especially at $0.99! Get it online here.
I don't usually use L'Oreal products, I'm more of a Maybelline and Revlon girl. But I knew in terms of color exactly what I was looking for. Since I've decided to implement such bright, bold colors on my lips, I wanted something soft and subtle on my cheeks to balance it out. I looked through all of the brands but L'Oreal was the winner. I love, love, love this color. It is very natural looking. It just gives your cheeks a natural flush, as the name says. It also has just a tiny hint of shimmer to give you a subtle dewy look. It goes on easy and is really blendable. I paid $5 for mine in-store but you can get it
here for $1.99.
I don't like to spend a lot on my makeup and Physician's Formula is at the top of the drugstore price range but they offer a good product. I've only purchased a few Physician's Formula products in the past but I've never been disappointed. I was looking for a bronzer that didn't have a shimmer in it so I could use it for contouring. The trouble I usually have with bronzers, is they're too brassy and have an almost orange undertone. This was the only option that had what I was looking for. It also has this nifty little card to instruct you in contouring. Hence the "How-To" in the name. There's a bazillion tutorials on contouring online but having this visual when you're getting ready is pretty cool. They offer 2 color choices, "light" and "bronze" and I chose the light. That's where I made my mistake. I'm not tan by any means but next time I would go for the bronze color. Unless you're albino, keep that in mind. You can get yours on sale for an even better price here.
So that's it for today. What are your favorite drugstore products? Anything I should try? Until next time...

I never wear lashes either. I've only worn them once before but I had no trouble whatsoever getting them on. They only problem I had was shooting a big glob of glue all over the place so beware of that! haha
DeleteNow I know how to bronze correctly!! Yeah...and the haul you got, amazing! And the prices? Even better :)

That's the only way I can buy makeup! I just cannot wrap my head around spending $30 for a powder or blush or something. Drugstore makeup really can be good, you just have to know what to buy!
DeleteHmm I might have to give those lipsticks a try, it's not like it's risky with that crazy low price! I've been trying to get into wearing lipstick but hate how it seems to wear off so quickly, plus I haven't really found a bright shade that's quite me yet. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteI've never worn lipstick. Ever. I felt like people were staring at me if I did. But once I decided it's all in my head, I love it. The Wet n Wild is the best price out there and the quality is as good as any other. It's definitely a great product to get you started because you're not losing any money if it doesn't work out. You should give it a try!
DeleteNice post!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some lovely make up products here :)

Thanks, Claire! :)
DeleteI use the ELF gel for my brows too, and LOVE it! I also love the wet n wild lipsticks! Another affordable lipstick brand that is one of my all time favorites is NYX (Do you have an Ulta? They sell it there. Some Sears stores sell it also) they're only a few dollars and amazing plus they have a HUGE color selection. I'm excited to see how you like the bronzer! The color in the package looks beautiful! Ah, now I want to go buy some new makeup...

My Walmart had NYX but they didn't have any lipstick!! :( I know they have great prices so I'm on the lookout for some! I tried out all of the products and posted it today (Monday). You can chek out the bronzer here. I really like it! :) Thanks so much for visiting and for your awesome suggestion!
DeleteOkay, I LOVE that you are a true bargain beauty blogger! I am the type of person who has a hard time and almost 100% of the time won't spend $15+ on one item, so this is great :)
